Introduction – what we are about and a bit of our history

The club was formed in May 1965 by twelve Austin Seven enthusiasts, some of whom are still members today. Since then the club has grown in strength to approximately 350 with some international members.

Monthly meetings are alternately at 2 different venues. The last Thursday of a month at The Vally Railway in Bitton and the third Saturday of alternate months at The Old Royal Ship in Luckington
In addition there are open days at the club spares shed where parts can be bought and advice given

In 1968 we held our first static rally at Longleat. In 1978 we decided a change of venue was in order and moved to Berkeley Castle which was a great success. After five years there, the club was offered the use of Spye Park near Chippenham, which was accepted because of the delightful setting. We had many wonderful and very successful rallies there and the tranquil setting made it an ideal place in which to camp and hold an evening ceilidh. When Spye Park was no longer available to us, we moved to Lackham Agricultural College near Lacock – about five miles from the Spye Park site. More recently, our major Rally returned to Longleat for four years but another move in 2010 saw the Rally being held at Old Down Country Park up to and including 2014.

In 2015 we celebrated our Golden Jubilee. We arranged a special celebratory rally at Atwell-Wilson Motor Museum, Calne, Chippenham.

In 2016 we accepted the opportunity to hold our rally in the extensive grounds of The National Trust’s Tyntesfield House, at Wraxall, near Bristol.

From 2021 the annual rally has been held at Newark Park, Wotton U Edge, Glos

Throughout the year club members organise a number of weekend and one-day events. These usually begin with a run over the Easter weekend. Other runs include North Devon at the end of May, Dorset in September and many day runs over the summer months. All activities are flexible and include walks and sightseeing during the day with social evenings when the run covers more than one day. Have a look at the Events list for more details.

Every year a trophy is presented to the club member who the committee feel has done something special for the club in the last year. Another trophy is awarded for the “Driver Of The Year”, and a further trophy to the driver who has had the biggest (or most amusing) disaster in the previous 12 months. Trophies are also awarded at some club runs for various achievements decided by the event organiser.

There are many other activities run by other parts of the Austin 7 world, eg Trialling, Racing and Driving tests. Organisers include the VSCC and the 750 motor club
