Holding the plug lead to check the timing or just to check if you have a spark can be a pain, especially if you get an HT shock!
The usual way is to connect the lead to a plug and rest it on the head in a place that allows you to see the end when turning the starting handle.
The lead always wants to twist the plug away from the ideal viewing position.

Made from an old battery charger crocodile clip and a jubilee clip ensures that you can position the plug where you want and keep it there.
